Welcome to EmployeeCommittee.org
The Employment Related Issues Committee (the "Employee Committee") is an official committee appointed by the United States Trustee and was charged with representing the collective interests of all current, former, and retired employees of numerous Enron business entities that filed bankruptcy ("Enron").
The Employee Committee won the right to pursue actions against certain former Enron Executives who it believed received payments from Enron that were in violation of the Bankruptcy Code. The Employee Committee had been litigating these actions since 2003 and has recovered approximately $34.9 Million on behalf of the Severance Settlement Litigation Trust (the "Trust").
After the payment of administrative Court costs and legal fees, including contingency fees to trial counsel in Texas, the Severance Settlement Trust has approximately $22.3 million available for distribution (the "Distribution") to those Settling Former Employees whose Severance Claims have not been satisfied by the Prior Payments or the Severance Award previously authorized by the Bankruptcy Court and are thus entitled to receive a further and Final Distribution. This Distribution is subject to a holdback for future administrative costs and taxes and an indemnification escrow. This Web Site has been established to answer questions, enable Settling Former Employees ("Claimants") to update their name and address information to assure that the Distribution is directed to the proper address, to facilitate resolution of any disputes, and to keep Eligible Employees informed of progress on a case being adjudicated in Federal Courts that may result in a refund of FICA taxes and an additional Distribution (the IRS FICA Case).
If you received a check in the mail, please check back periodically for updates on the IRS FICA Case. If you have not received a check in the mail but believe that you may be an eligible Claimant, please submit your information through the Update Address Tab. We will then be able to update your address and process your distribution or research your specific situation with the Enron Recovery Corp. to determine if you may be an Eligible Employee.
